About Shrinking the Footprint SW

In recent years we have been actively encouraging our seven Dioceses to respond seriously and urgently to growing global climate change through:

  • Synod debates and discussions
  • presentations, workshops, conferences
  • campaigning for climate justice with our overseas partners
  • engaging with Transition Towns and low carbon communities
  • attempting to reduce the carbon footprint of our church buildings, land, travel and lifestyles
  • conferences on heating and lighting churches
  • establishing the EcoChurch Southwest project
  • exploring energy investment issues in our Dioceses
  • promoting worship resources and the Season of Creation
  • addressing fuel poverty in our local communities
  • negotiating deals for green electricity and gas for churches
  • linking with other churches across England and Europe via for example the European Christian Environmental Network
