Children are the future, so it is important to be concerned about what sort of planet they will inherit, and to teach them how to care for it.
The wonderful material for schools and children produced as part of the Lent Carbon Fast 2014 has lots of great ideas for raising awareness and living more lightly:
- Suggested activities in schools and recommended resources (pdf)
- Some ideas for children to try (pdf) - compiled by Jane Tibbs, Early Years, Children and Families Adviser for the Diocese of Bath and Wells
Truro Diocese has produced some ideas to encourage children to think about living in a fragile world, and a Young People’s Environment Charter as part of its booklet “Be Inspired to Care for Creation” (pdf).
Eco-Schools is “an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life.”
The Solar Schools project helps schools raise funds for solar roofs.
