Hilfield Friary are running a series of courses and day events this year on environmental spirituality and sustainable living.
Friday 15th – Sunday 17th May | ‘Hope for Creation’, the role of communities in sustaining nature, led by Sir Ghillean Prance and Andy Lester of A Rocha. |
Friday 19th – Sunday 21st June | ‘Brother Soil and Sister Slug’, Franciscan family wisdom for an Ecological Garden. Led by Richard Thornbury of the Hilfield Friary Community. |
Saturday 27th June | ‘Seeking Sustainability’, a day conference on why it’s important and what we can learn from each other. |
Friday 4th – Sunday 6th September | ‘Climate Change’, what it means, who suffers and what we can do. Led by Christian Aid and Br Hugh SSF. |
Tuesday 13th – Friday 16th October | ‘Towards a Contemplative Ecology’, how the contemplative tradition can provide wisdom for living sustainably and peacefully in the world today, led by Br Sam SSF. |
Friday 4th – Sunday 6th December | ‘Praying for Paris 2015’, a weekend retreat during the time of the United Nations’ Conference on Climate Change being held in Paris at this time. Led by members of the Hilfield Friary Community. |
All of these courses and retreats are residential in individual rooms and sharing the rhythm of the life of the Friary Community. There are no fixed charges, but for each event we suggest an appropriate donation to cover the cost of your visit.
