I am sorry to have to inform you that we are cancelling the EcoChurch SouthWest conference planned for this Thursday (10th September) at St. James’ Church, Exeter. This is due to poor take up and we do not feel it worthwhile going ahead with only 12-15 people. Our sincere apologies if this causes you any inconvenience.
The Diocesan Environmental Officers of the SW Dioceses have decided we will ourselves meet that morning anyway as there are a number of issues we need to discuss with a few of the speakers. Should you wish to join us in these conversations please let me know as soon as possible, but this will be very informal.
You may like to note there will be a seminar looking at the Papal Encyclical on the Environment (Laudato Si) in Salisbury on Saturday 3rd October. You would be very welcome to attend this. Please see further details at by clicking here.
There will also be a series of church events in the region leading up to the UN Paris Summit in November, including pilgrimages and acts of worship. Details of these will be posted on the ECSW website in the coming weeks.
?Riding Lights’ Theatre Company is performing its Climate Change drama ?Baked Alaska’ at various venues in the South West in the Autumn. See details at: www.ridinglights.org/baked-alaska-tour-dates.

We are clearly at a critical point with decisions about carbon and climate and I regret this conference has not had enough support. We may reschedule for a time next year.
