UN Climate Change Summit

Please remember the United Nations COP24 Summit taking place in Katowice, Poland from 3-14 December, needing to make critical decisions about Climate Change action in the face of enormous scientific evidence.

The latest report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change could well be its last to have any significant impact on the world of politics. We have now bred such an insular and detached form of elite decision-making that almost every policy decision taken seems to be to further the rule of the rich few and to ignore the consequences for the rest of the planet.

Operation Noah supporter Deolinda Eltringham has written this short prayer for the Summit:

Holy Spirit, we pray that you will unsettle, mould, shape and fill with wisdom, patience and zeal all the delegates and supporting staff taking part in the 24th United Nations climate summit in Poland, including the UK.

We pray that ambitious commitments may be reached in the care of our common home to sustain all of creation today and in the future, on behalf of the marginalised and voiceless: future generations, wildlife and natural resources.

We also pray that all Christians may re-double our efforts to work daily as fast as possible towards a zero-carbon future in our own personal lives.
