Helping your church look after God’s world
Saturday 9th November 2019, 9.30am to 3.30pm
Join us at Christ Church, Weston Super Mare BS23 2RH for this day conference which aims to inspire, encourage and equip Christians to include ‘creation care’ in the life of their church and community.
The bible tells us that ‘The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it’ and that we are called to be good stewards of the earth. Many local churches of all denominations are getting involved in making that a reality. With speakers on theology and science, and contributions from people who’ve been working on all aspects of ‘greening’ the life of their church, why not join us and find out more?
Our morning speakers are:
Revd Kevin Durrant, Pastor Keynsham Baptist Church and author of ‘The Earth Will Teach You’ on the theology of caring for creation; and
Rob Varley, Senior Consultant at the World Meteorological Organisation on climate change and the environmental challenges we face.
We’ll also be hearing from Andy Watts of Locking Castle Church about how they gained their ‘Silver’ Eco Church award, members of Chewton Keynsham’s Eco Church and Plastic Reaction group, Caroline Pomeroy (EcoChurch and Climate Stewards) and others.
Workshops will be led by local Christians of all denominations, covering topics including a simplifying your lifestyle, engaging with your community and the wider world, greening your church land, sustainable buildings and teaching and worship. In addition we’ll have stands displaying the work of local environmental organisations.
Bring your own (single-use plastic free!) packed lunch – we’ll provide coffee/tea and biscuits.
There is no charge for the day, but please reserve a place using the booking form.
